Plant Material
Grelen Nursery grows exceptional trees, shrubs, and plants across our 1,000-acre farm in Somerset, Virginia. Much of our plant material is field-grown and sold balled and burlapped, allowing clients to select large, mature trees and shrubs directly from the nursery. Visitors are welcome to schedule a tour of the nursery fields to see the scale and quality of our growing operation and to choose the exact trees and plants for their landscape. We also maintain a holding yard with pre-dug material, making it easy for clients to view and select plants that are ready for purchase or installation.
Retail Plant List
In addition to our field-grown plants, Grelen also offers a selection of container-grown material sourced from trusted growers, providing a wide variety of sizes and plant options. Our retail plant list includes only the trees and shrubs currently growing in our fields and available for digging. Because this material is harvested directly from the nursery, please allow approximately one week for digging prior to pickup or delivery.
Please note that the Retail List below does not include plants that have already been dug and moved to our holding yard or container material brought in from other nurseries, as this inventory changes frequently. For availability and pricing on pre-dug or container-grown plants, please contact us directly by email or phone.
What Makes Grelen Unique?
One of the things that makes Grelen unique is the opportunity to experience the nursery firsthand. Clients are welcome to walk the Grelen trails (6 miles) through our nursery fields to see trees growing across the landscape or take a guided tour with our plant manager. This hands-on approach allows visitors to find the perfect species and size for their property.
What is the Difference Between Grelen Nursery & The Market at Grelen?
Grelen Nursery and The Market at Grelen are sister companies located on Grelen’s 1,000-acre nursery in Somerset, Virginia. Founded in 1990, Grelen Nursery grows and sells large plant material and manages landscaping projects throughout the region. The Market at Grelen, established in 2013, serves as the retail arm of the property—a European-style garden shop and café where guests can shop seasonal plants and garden goods while enjoying the beauty of the surrounding nursery and walking trails.
